Break in vacation blogging...

I have much more to blog about vacation, but I'm being really slow about it. There are so many things going on right now, and I'm trying to be attentive to myself.

With that being said, I made a huge decision this past weekend. I'm going to go to law school starting in Fall 2010. Which means I have to take the LSAT in February (with a possibility of taking it in June also, depending on score). I am trying to set my schedule up to accomodate this, and went and collected LSAT study books from the library. I will be purchasing some soon too.

I still need to find a place to study for the LSAT, because I really just can't do it at home (I know myself too well). I will clearly have to sacrifice some sleep for this endeavor, but I think it's been a long time coming. I'm very excited, but also very nervous. This is going to be a very trying and difficult time, but I know it will be worth it.

Please bear with me while I start this new journey!!!

Budgets and decisions

In my attempt to spend less, which is a goal that Eric and I both have, I have had to make some hard decisions. I like to go out to eat, out with people, go shopping, etc. However, I have had to start picking and choosing where I go and what I do. I've been frequenting the library a lot, watching movies from Netflix, and generally trying to eat at home more.

I've been bringing my lunch to work - Chef Boyardee and I have become quite familiar with each other (can't go wrong for $1 lunches!). I've been trying to resist being super lazy at night and actually making something when I get home instead of picking something up.

It's not easy trying to break habits that I've developed over the last year or so. It's easier to develop the habits. However, I can't complain a whole lot about spending more time at home and taking time for myself. The hardest part recently has been trying to fulfill my obligations as well as I can, but with restrictions. That means I do have to make hard decisions and pick and choose where I go.

One day, maybe I won't have to make the hard decisions, but I'm not betting on it. I can only hope that I don't let it stress me out as much as it has been lately.

Do you have any budget saving tips? If so, what are they?

Weekly planning

I just took a trip to the grocery store. I thought it was a little steep that I spent $62 and didn't feel like I got much. However, on the quick drive home, I started doing the math of how much I would spend in a week without a menu.

So, taking a page out of a friend's blog...I am making a list of things for a menu this week. I am using things that I had and

Monday:

Lunch:
Chef Boyardee

Dinner:
Hamburger Helper
Corn

Tuesday:

Lunch:
Ham Sandwich
Pretzels
Applesauce

Dinner:
Chicken and Mac and Cheese
Green Beans

Wednesday:

Lunch:
Chef Boyardee

Dinner:
Leftover Hamburger Helper
Biscuits

Thursday:

Lunch:
Chef Boyardee (it was on sale, what can I say?)

Dinner:
Catfish
Corn
Biscuits

Friday:

Lunch:
Chef Boyardee

Dinner:
Leftover Chicken and Mac and Cheese
Corn

I had to get something down that I was able to follow...there may be some tweaks throughout the week, but we'll see how I do...

My main goal is to eat at home more, and I'm trying to see what works for me!
