Today while I was getting ready for work, I realized that I was running out of clothes to wear...and the dirty clothes pile was getting larger! I didn't have time to stop at the bank before I headed to work, so I figured I'd just stop sometime today.
Well, it turns out that EVERY branch of my bank closes at 4:30pm...yup, that's 4:30pm. Before the 5pm that I usually leave work. So, before I left work, I figured out where I could go before they closed - NuUnion Credit Union.
This made me start thinking - why am I still with a bank? They can't even be open while I'm NOT at work! But, while I'm thinking of switching from my bank to a credit union, I have to keep in mind lots of factors, including my paycheck and auto payments.
Any opinions?

Hmmmm ... this seems like the sort of thing a person twice your age would be complaining about :) I use the MSU credit union, and I think I might actually set foot in a physical branch two or three times a year at most. With direct deposit, e-payment of most of my bills, no fee ATMs at every QD for withdrawals and deposits (plus no fee at other credit union ATMs around the country), and using the MSUFCU website to monitor my balance, order paper checks and do just about everything else I need, the branch could be open one hour a day as far as I'm concerned. I'm surprised a tech-savvy Millennial such as yourself hasn't gone that route yet ...
Well, all I needed to do was get quarters for laundry! :-)
I haven't used a bank in 20 years! I've been using a credit union, and it is fabulous! They do everything a bank does, i make more interest than i would with a bank, and when i need a loan, I have the answer within 2 hours. And...credit unions are not folding under like banks...do you hear of credit unions looking for a bailout!
I don't know if you have a TCF Bank near you, but they could not be more convenient. They're open every day of the year from 8 am to 8 pm. And they're located in my grocery store. My husband laughed at me for using them (b/c they're not your typical bank model - he thought it was funny that I did my "banking" at a grocery store), but as soon as he started using themm he LOVED it. they have great online tools, and great rates to boot! Also, limited fees!
Angela, thanks so much for your order today - it's such a cute one! You'll love it! :)

Credit Union, baby! When you walk in you're a name, not a number.
